The 3 pillars to my sustainable approach.

  1. Choosing responsible fabrics these include: natural and degradable fabrics, made ethically, and using fabrics that already exist such as the vintage lace.

  2. Creating designs you want to wear again: timeless style and comfort.

  3. Creating designs you can wear again: adjustability and comfort.

Responsible fabrics

At Ro&Be I strive to create garments with fabrics that are kind in the manufacture of them and then degrade after a wonderful long life in use.

I may sometimes use existing textiles like vintage small leftover and scraps. I may occasionally use a dead stock but only if it is truly special, I don’t think this is really that much of a sustainable approach.

I will always chose organic cotton over standard, tencel and sustainable viscose for wonderful drape and if I use silk then it will be organic peace silk.

I love to support other artisans and will source hand loomed fabrics for special pieces too.

Timeless style

My design ethos is to create pieces that you want to turn to again and again. They look great and feel great and never feel out of fashion. I may nod to current trends in designs but only if that trend feels like it would still look great in 5 years or the garment can adapt again for a fresh look.

Comfort is of the utmost importance to me, you will never get lots of wear out of something uncomfortable and being comfy is key to helping the rest of you shine!

Re-wearability

We change, fact, our bodies never remain the same. I have loved and lost beautiful dresses to my ever changing body. Designs will consider how we might evolve so they can evolve with you.
